At Inspired Steps Tutoring, I , Colby Horn (A/OGA), provide expert, personalized Orton-Gillingham tutoring for students with dyslexia and reading challenges. With over a decade of experience and as an Associate Member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA) since 2014, I specialize in helping students with dyslexia and reading difficulties build strong, lasting literacy skills. Using the proven Orton-Gillingham approach and grounded in the Science of Reading, my instruction is structured, multisensory, and personalized to meet each learner’s unique needs. Having completed Certified Level OGA coursework and supervised practicum in 2016, I am able to work with more complex dyslexia profiles and a broader age range of students (k-8).

At Inspired Steps Tutoring, I provide individualized, in-school support for students who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing—especially those with dyslexia or language-based learning differences in Annapolis, Maryland. By working directly within your child’s private school day, I ensure consistent, targeted instruction without adding stress to your family’s schedule.

How does the process look?
Our step-by-step process is designed to empower your child to become a successful, confident reader one step at a time

Initial Inquiry and Consultation
Families reach out through email or phone to express interest. A brief discovery call is scheduled to discuss student's needs, background, and goals. Information about services, rates, and availability is provided.

Intake and Scheduling
Parents complete an intake form, sign tutorial agreement, and provide any relevant school reports, pyschoeducational evaluations, or progress notes. Tutor reviews all materials and schedules sessions with the student's school.

Informal Assessment and Sessions Begin
The first sessions will consist of informal assessments. From there, tutor will create a personalized learning plan based on the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Following lesson plans will be aligned with the individualized learning plan and conducted in a structured, multisensory manner. On-going progress monitoring, parent and teacher/school communication, and continuous support will be provided.
